What makes the Go Power 80W Solar Panel Kit perfect for home use is that it is made using 36 long-lasting, high-efficiency, monocrystalline photovoltaic cells in a 6×6 configuration designed to give 80 watts of free solar power over a 25 year period. In addition, this 80W Folding Solar Panel comes complete with its own 10 Amp solar charge controller which incorporates built-in LED’s to indicate charging, output and battery capacity, designed for charging 12V battery systems without disrupting your existing power supply. This complete kit is all you need to fit solar to your 12V caravan or motorhome system.

This panel is one of Go Power Solar’s range of top-quality solar panels currently available which guarantees over 90% of full power after 10 years of continuous use, and over 80% of full power after 20 years of continuous use with some of the highest solar panel efficiencies in the marketplace, all at affordable prices.

Solar Panel Characteristics:

  • – 36 (6×6) Monocrystalline Solar Cells
  • – Peak Power (Wp): 80W ± 5%
  • – Voltage at maximum power (Vmp): 17.5V
  • – Current at maximum power (Imp): 4.57A
  • – Open circuit voltage (Voc): 21.6V
  • – Short circuit current (Isc): 5.02A
  • – Power allowance range: ± 5%
  • – Dimensions: 808 x 748 x 35mm
  • – Weight: 7.2kg

This voltage optimised solar panel is ideal for use in powering 12V off-grid systems and charging 12V batteries as it can supply a maximum of 90 Watts of power at 4.7 ampere DC per hour. It’s rigid anodised aluminium folding frame and toughened tempered glass prevent damage due to frost, snow, hail and high winds giving it a design life of over 25 years of consistent free power. However, the lack of suitable mounting holes make fixing the panel more difficult than others.

The easy-to-wire 10A charge controller has built-in protection functions to prevent damage from incorrect wiring and uses MCU and SCM technology to maximise your batteries capacity and life providing more than enough power for powering a fridge, television or laptop, perfect for caravans, boats and off-grid houses.

The 80W Go Power Solar Panel Kit contains all you need to fit solar electricity to a 12V battery system such as in a caravan or boat. Built-in bypass diodes minimise the impact of shading while its simple components and clear instructions make it a doddle to wire up.

Let’s take a look at some of the GP-PSK-80 solar panels features:

The Panels Good Points:

  • Top of the range 80 Watt Solar Panel with excellent performance even in low-light conditions.
  • Made from 36 (6×6) high performance, high efficiency monocrystalline solar cells.
  • 3.2mm tempered glass and rigid anodised aluminium alloy frame for exceptional strength.
  • The solar charge controller is voltage optimised for use in 12V systems and charging 12V batteries.
  • Weatherproof and durable, perfect for permanent outdoor use on a boat, motor home, or in a solar garden.
  • Lightweight, portable and complete with charge controller and 5 metres of flexible cable.

The Panels Bad Points:

  • Only 80 watts of solar power available.
  • High cost of the kit compared to others.
  • Requires additional mounting holes and/or brackets.

This high quality waterproof 80 watt folding solar panel is ideal for people who want to save money on their electricity bills and the environment, or where it would cost too much to install electrical cables to a shed or outhouse. This 80 watt panel is powerful and portable enough to be used to power hundreds of devices that you may use in a shed, boat or caravan such as lights and pumps and will even generate free renewable solar power on a cloudy day.

The 10 Amp solar charge controller supplied with the panel, gives protection from over-charging and over-discharging while thermal cut-outs prevent damage if battery or panel is incorrectly connected. The controller incorporates LED indication of battery capacity including low-charge warning to show when the battery is charging. It also helps protect the panel against output short circuit, excess output current, input short circuit, or incorrect wiring.

Due to its rigid anodised aluminium alloy frame and 3.2mm thick tempered glass giving it exceptional strength, it is perfect for permanent outdoor use in the garden to provide free power either directly, such as powering a pond fountain or pump, or for keeping your car, caravan, boat or motorbike battery topped up around the clock.

This review is from: Go Power! GP-PSK-80 80W Portable Folding Solar Kit with 10 Amp Solar Controller, Black

Used for the first time last weekend and they worked great. The additional 30′ extension cord, although not a must, is helpful if you are camped in an area where you need to move the panels further than ten feet to get sun. That said, I did not use it and the panels fully recharged my batteries every day. I purposely left lights on and used battery power without limit, leaving the generator home just to see how these panels would perform. They were great. They are packeged perfeclty, folding in half with a handle and a padded case. Love them.

Connecting GP-PSK-80 Panels Together

Go Power’s GP-PSK-80 80W Portable Folding Solar Kits can be connected together with other Go Power solar panels to form larger arrays for higher voltages or greater off-grid charging currents. The following table gives you an idea of what is possible with this small but versatile 80W panel.

Panel Type:GP-PSK-80 Solar Panel
Panel Rating: 80W (4.57A at 17.5V) Panel Dimensions: 808 x 748 x 35mm
System Power Panel Qty Controller Type Minimum Array Area

Note that the Go Power GP-PSK-80 solar panel can be connected together in either a series, parallel or a combination of both to give a higher output voltage or charging current from the array than a single panel.

Ronogy’s 40A Solar charge controller is a powerful dual voltage (12V or 24V), 40A charge controller which uses PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) technology to extend the life of connected batteries. It works with sealed, gel and flooded batteries and allows you to set battery capacity, automatic cut off to prevent over-charging and deep discharge, over heating, over load, short circuit and reverse polarity protection. Other features of this controller include LCD display, LED indicators, temperature sensor, back-up battery, multilevel menu operation and friendly interface with 4 multifunctional buttons.

The Go Power Solar and CE logos assures the build quality of the panel, so for more information, customer reviews about this 80W solar panel kit, Click Here to visit Amazon, you won’t find it cheaper anywhere else. Free shipping is included also.
